Rosewood Country Inn is an NH Environmental Partner in Hospitality
Recognized by the state of NH as an "Environmental Partner in Hospitality", we are committed to pampering our guests while proving that one doesn't need to give up comfort, luxury or service to stay in an environmentally friendly inn.
The Rosewood Country Inn is certified by the State of NH as an Environmental Partner in the Hospitality Industry for our green practices. Today the Rosewood Country Inn remains committed to continually seeking ways to be kinder to the environment while pampering our guests in luxury. The two efforts - providing luxury accommodations and being eco-friendly - are not mutually exclusive and this is proven at the inn on a daily basis. While the Rosewood strives to deliver exceptional comfort and service to each guest, it continues to incorporate newer products and eco-friendly practices to do so in a "greener" manner to ensure that the natural beauty of New Hampshire is preserved for future generations to visit.
Another important aspect in being environmentally proactive is to help guests experience the area's rich culture, natural beauty, unique wildlife and history. The Rosewood has partnered with several local businesses to create opportunities, both eco-friendly packages and custom itineraries, for guests to experience firsthand "the real NH", from an inn to inn biking tour, to hiking NH's Emerald Necklace , to learning the rich history of NH and the Sunapee Region.
We seek to remain an environmental partner in New Hampshire Hospitality by promoting nature based tourism, green housekeeping and landscaping practices. We buy local produce whenever possible, use environmentally friendly products, minimize waste and practice energy efficiency.
Here at the Rosewood Country Inn we are committed to providing a good quality service while minimizing the effect our activities have on the environment.
Some of the main steps we have taken to reduce our impact are:
Promoting "Car free" activities through the development of an "inn to inn bike tour" and providing information on and bird wildlife watching
We have created a small wildflower meadow and are looking for new places to site bird boxes all to encourage local wildlife
We also garden without pesticides and our planting is designed to provide food and shelter to birds and insects
Use of environmentally friendly cleaning products
Adoption of a towel and linen policy to avoid unnecessary laundry
Increased use of low energy lighting
Where possible we use local suppliers for our breakfasts to reduce food miles
We have our own herb garden for ourselves and our guests
Provide guests with information to help them reduce their environmental impact while enjoying all the benefits of staying in this beautiful area of the country.
Plastic bottles, glass, tin cans, aluminum foil, newspapers, and cardboard are taken to our local recycling facility.
Batteries and any other hazardous waste are also taken to our local recycling facility.
Future Plans
Increase the number of bird boxes
Replace remaining conventional bulbs with low energy bulbs when they need replacing
Develop more walking routes from the Rosewood Country Inn
Work with other lodging facilities to promote hiking Sunapee/Kearsarge Emerald Necklace
Replace domestic appliances with more energy efficient models when they need replacing
Donation and recycling of old towels, clothing, shampoo and soaps to local charities.
Make our herb garden fully organic
Recycle office products, paper and ink cartridges
Use of dimmable lights and timers in guest and common areas
Individually controlled heat and air conditioning zones in each guest room
Use Recycling centers for newspapers, plastic, glass and metals; housekeepers trained to remove recyclable goods from common trash in rooms (i.e. newspapers, plastic bottles, soda cans)
Post placards to announce waste reduction options and available guest participation in being "green".
